London Hotels
I am looking for a good hotel recommendation for May 28-June 5th in London. We are looking at 2 1/2 to 4 stars. We want to be very close to an Underground station and have a bathroom with shower in the room (private) that is big enough to move in. Also, we want to have breakfast included. It doesn't have to be fancy as long as it is clean. I have looked at the following as possibilities: The Dolphin, The Russel, The Sanctuary House, The Lime House. Has anyone ever had any good/bad experiences at these? Can anyone recommend someplace else that would fit our needs?

Have you considered Priceline? You can usually get 4* rooms for under $100 a night on a regular basis. Search Priceline and London, or better yet, go to www.biddingfortravel.com for a great rundown of how to get this...

We stayed at the Somerset Queen's Gate Gardens apartment last year and now we're staying there again for part of our trip next week. I think this sounds like what you're asking for. Their site is www.the-ascott.com. They have several properties around London. You can check the reviews on trip advisor as well.

The Lime House books up quickly. we tried last Jan for May & it was booked. The Winchester near Victoria--walking distance--was under $200 quiet, clean with a fine breakfast--bathroom ensuite also. Also poular is the Elizabeth in the same area.

Rshersnow. We stayed @ the Radisson Mountbatten hotel near Leiceister Squaire and Covent Garden. It was great! It's directly between stations for the tube by about 3-5 short blocks. It included full breakfast (very good), was newly decorated, 4 star, the rooms were a good size, as were the baths and the staff were very helpful. It's near a lot of mid price (as mid priced as our exchange will allow) but excellent eateries. Check the Radison site for more details but this sounds just like what you're looking for.

There are several places on Sumner place that might fit..Astor house's garden room ,with a great breakfast , or their 4 poster room..#5 SP or #16 should meet your price range. These are all smaller , more personal hotels , than anything you'll find on priceline. Or try Londontown.com..you might get lucky and find The Cranley or Sydney Street hotel there.
Skip the Russell!! I hate to say this ..but we got a special surprise there..CRAB LICE!! Try telling your very proper MIL that after spending a night at her house on the way home !!

I doubt if #5 or #16 Sumner Place are still within your price range. I stayed at #5 ( slightly less expensive than #16) several years ago and a single was 120 GBP which presently translates to about $240.00. The Cranley also falls into a similar price range. Don't forget to add VAT if it's not included. You might try Durrants or the Westland on Bayswater.

I have stayed at the Elizabeth House in Belgravia twice now and love it for its great location. It is located two blocks from Victoria Station (you can get pretty much anywhere from there). Its also clean with a good breakfast, and a never ending pot of tea in the reception area. The rooms are small, the decor is slighty shabby, and there isn't an elevator. It is very reasonably priced as well.

I have not tried Priceline yet. Maybe I will. I always get a little leary of getting locked into a situation though. It's too bad you can't just book directly for cheap. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
