Trendy restaurants in Paris - dress code
Hi! I have read a lot of posts on dress code in Paris that talk about whether or not guys should wear a jacket and tie to fine dining places... but what about the trendy restaurants like l'etoile and Barramundi? Or less expensive but still classy restaurants like L'Angle du Faubourg? My boyfriend and I would both be wearing jeans and him and black button-up and me a dressy top (we're early 20's) - would that be ok for these type of restaurants? Where the dinners are b/t 40-60E?

As you know, there are jeans and then there are jeans.
Faded Levi's worn with Nikes would definately be out of place at any of the places you mentioned.
The newer trendier style of jeans worn with nice shoes for him, anything with heel for you will get you in most places except for the top tier like Alain Ducasse, Taillevent etc. If you have access to this month's In Style magazine, there's a multi-page ad for The Gap with Sarah Jessica Parker wearing jeans in several dressy ways.
You should consider adding a tweed jacket or one of the new poncho style wraps to "validate" the look and carry an evening type bag. Try to convince the boyfriend to add a jacket to his ensemble as well.
As it happens, we're leaving for Paris in 2 days and have reservations Thursday night at l'Angle du Faubourg. I'll check out what everybody's wearing and report back. Last time we ate there was a couple of years ago and I think everybody was pretty much in "dressy casual" mode. Well, except for the couple across from us who sucked each other's faces all night...across the table yet. But that's another story!

Oh good! My boyfriend's jeans and shirt are 100% metrosexual so we should have no problem! He agreed not to bring any baseball caps or red sox shirts, so I think we will be fine
