Prague-off the beaten path

Hey looking at going to Prague in early December this year. Looking for off the beaten path places to check out. Plan on doing touristy stuff, but want to find some random not to miss places/things to do as well. Thank you in advance.

Art Deco or Good Soldier Svejk might be a good source of places to drop by.

The parks to the north and large and pretty with lots of wooded running areas.

Melnik for a day out on the train.

Also, look at LivingPrague.com.

I remember when we visited the castle, we took a side 'road' back down the hill, through a little area of homes that was not busy at all.

On the main road up to the castle from Old Town, there's a cool 'contemporary' hotel on the right hand side in an historic building, with a lovely rooftop restaurant.

Best treat in Prague is to get a special tour to go "inside" the library at the Strahov Monastery. Very cool to be inside the velvet rope ... while everyone else just walks by down the hallway, peering in through the door.

I will second LivingPrague, I have know Jason who runs the company for many years and he has recently started doing tours to the less well trod parts of the city, small groups of no more than 6.he has already won an award for his tours.
I like getting out to Pruhonice park, about 15 minute bus ride from Opatov metro, even in winter it is lovely and very few tourists there if any.
I also love the Star Summer Palace, nice building but lovely park to walk around and near Brevnov monastery which has a great bar/.restaurant.
