Prague Itenerary help

For the Prague portion of our trip here is what I'm thinking, please let me know if you have suggestions!

Day 1 - Fly in from UK 1:00PM Getting out of airport with luggage - get to hotel around 3:00 Staying at the Crowne Plaza Prague Castle, so we will spend the next couple hours exploring part of the castle then getting dinner somewhere.

Day 2 - Walking "Best of Prague" tour with either Jay from www.prague-walks.com (still waiting to hear from him) or other guide.

Day 3. Morning visit Karlstejn Castle. Afternoon Jewish Ghetto tour (will we be able to go to Karlstejn, see the castle, get lunch and get back before 2:00 of the afternoon tour??)

Day 4 - Revisit any sites we might want to spend more time at. Flight departs to FRA at 6:00PM (how much time do we need to allow ourselves at the airport?)

Restaurants I'm interested in are:

Peklo
U Tri Housilek
U Fleku (is the food worth it, or should we just stop by for a beer?)
U Ceskych Panu

Information on these restaurants, or "better" suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is the final leg of our vacation before we head back to the states. I wish we had one more day but we don't so we need to get as much in as possible!!

Thanks in advance!

If you don't get many replies here, try Prague forum on tripadvisor.com too. There are a few "local experts" living there that reply regularly.

Peklo
U Fleku

I read reviews about above two often on TA. U Fleku seems to be considered as a tourist trap by many although there are those who have fun. You can read reviews on the site. They are pretty negative about the place. Many seem to prefer U Medvidku in the old town area.

Since you are at Crowne Plaza Prague Castle (that's perhaps 10 minutes or more walk to the castle), a bit away from anything (but no problem if you can walk a bit or use tramway), one obvious choice is Restaurant Bellavista that is 5 minutes walk, in front of Strahof monastery. Terrace tables have one of the best views over the city and the castle. I have not eaten there but, had a relaxing time after walking up the Petrin Hill, with a glass of beer there last April, away from the crowd of Charles Bridge and the old town.

We had good tradtional Czech fare and beers at Pivnice U Rudolfina, on Krizovnicka--just a bit north of the Charles Bridge on the Old Town side of the river.

Best tasting Pilsner Urquell we found in the city--we were told that's partly due to them still using the old air tap instead of a CO2 tap. Not sure it that's true, but the beer was quite good.

We thought U Fleku was quite a nice beer garden. Away from the crowds when we were there in May. Only had beer though.

I don't know if you're going to use public buses for visiting the castle and the Jewish Ghetto at Terezin, but if you are you may not have time to visit both in one day... the buses leave from Terezin at 1:15 and 4:30 and I don't think there's a later one. You can take a taxi to Litomerice and then take a train back to Prague from there, but I'm not sure of that schedule. Also, Karlstein castle is the opposite direction of Terezin so it will probably take about 2 hours by bus between them (it is 1 hour to Terezin from Prague).

Hope this helps... have a great trip!
