Prague 5 Area

Is this area completely out of the way? I know that it isn't a huge city, but it doesn't seem like the most convenient area for a tourist.
I got a Priceline **** star hotel, Moevenpick Hotel, for $75 p/ night, but it happens to be in the Praha 5 area.

Anyone have any input?

Central Prague isn't huge, but the entire metro area covers a large area and will have addresses of Praha 1 through 10. I don't think you want to be way out on the east end of Praha 9.

IN any case, what is the address? I think you are in luck as part of Praha 5 is fairly close in and there is a Movenpick in that part in a nice area. That is the one near Bertramka (Mozart museum) and the Andel metro stop. The street would probably be Mrazovka or Mozartova. that area is just below Mala Strana and not far from the river.

Thank you for your input, Christina.
Yes, the address to the hotel is Mozartova 261/1.

When I was in Prague in July/August, this whole area was under construction (NO PUBLIC TRANSIT CONNECTIONS). I had to walk from the metro down a busy street, which was an access road to a highway. Very inconvenient. HOWEVER, this hotel is great. Did not stay there, but had dinner there twice (when I was visiting Bertramka). Met people who were staying there, and they loved their room. There is a cable car that takes you to the top of the hill, where there is a restaurant (and a cocktail lounge) with GREAT views. Contact the hotel to see about the state of the tram construction. If it is done, then go for it. If not, expect some inconvenience. It will not take long to access the main downtown, once you make it to the trams or metro. Also, this hotel definitely caters to Americans & business travelers. Everything is in English. Good if you don't speak Czech, bad if you want a taste of the real culture (you will NOT find it at this modern hotel). A good value for the $, however.

I don't think BAS2003 has a choice as to whether to select it or not -- he said he used Priceline and that's the hotel he got and that's that. There are no refunds, it is prepaid.

OK Christina. Now I see that. So, the point would be that BAS2003 should check with that hotel to see if there is still construction causing there to be NO public transportaion at all to the streets leading to this hotel. If not, then specific directions on how to access the hotel are necessary. A couple driving in from Italy stopped to ask me directions. They had been within a block of the hotel for 40 minutes, and could not figure out how to get to the hotel because of all the road closures!
