prague 4 hotel question

I have been given a price for the corinth towers hotel for EU100 per night single accomodation and which is apparantly located in prague 4.

I have actually two questions:

1) Any websites that can clearly show me where prague 4 is and all the other districts(?) for that matter?

2) Anyone have any other suggestions for a hotel in the area for a bit less or is this a really good price???

Thanks in advance

I've only found a few maps online that give general outlines of the districts. The problem is, if you haven't been there, it's hard to get a feeling for the distances. Here is one map that shows you where Prague 4 is, to the south of the city (as well as the other districts). That hotel is near the Vysehrad metro station:

http://www.a-zprague.cz/mapa.php?mapa=praha_4.gif

The main area you'll want to see is likely Prague 1 and I'd suggest that's the best place to stay.

Here is another map that is perhaps better:
http://www.book-a-hotel-in-prague.co...xxxxxxall.html

If you click on that once, you can get an idea and it shows districts. That hotel is probably about 1-1/2 miles (or a couple km) from the city center, it isn't quite a far as that map might look.

I think that is a business hotel, there is some convention center or something down there. I would think you can find hotels for that rate closer in with no problem, although it does depend on your dates. The Cloister Inn, for example, is very central and perhaps around that rate.

That was most helpful. from those sites (i'm not sure how) i found another map site at http://mapy.atlas.cz which gave me a really good idea about distances.

If you find a hotel in Prague 4 for very cheap, it could be worth it as long as you're near a subway stop. My aunt lives in Prague 4, and it's very easy to reach downtown from there. (Prague is small, so it's all of 10 minutes on the subway to the old town). If you can spend that much per night, though, you should be able to find a place in Prague 1, which would be much more convenient. All you'd have to do is step out the door and be where you want to be. There was one hotel I had recommended to someone else, Casa Marcello, which should be at least near your price range and is right in the old town, adjoining a beautiful old monastery (now a museum). Here's the website: http://www.andel3w.dk/antuser/hotels...a-marcello.htm.

Alternatively, if you have a hard time finding a place in Prague 1, you should look in Prague 2 (Nove Mesto)--again this will be nicer for you because it's closer to old town (and many parts of this neighborhood are beautiful and old). Good luck!

hi Bhuty -- I think I saw that mappy site but didn't find it very useful for getting the big picture, but maybe I'll recheck it as I look for this periodically.

I did find another one with a pretty good overall map with the districts AND it's a hotel booking site with some good hotels and rates:
www.prague-hotel-reservation.com

They seem to have lots of nice hotels for 100 euro per night or less in the central area. They do have the CLoister Inn on there but they have a good website of their own.

I usually stay near the Casa Marcello that mp413 suggests, so do think it's a nice hotel and location, but I didn't think its prices were anywhere near 100 euro. I know they had some specials due to flood damage and off-season rates around 100 euro, so if you are going before March, that could be a good idea, otherwise I think they are 200 euro and up. www.casa-marcello.cz

Yikes! Christina's right (they surreptitiously list their prices per person rather than per room).

In any case, unless you have a reason to stay in Prague 4 (there are several larger hotels there for conferences and such), I would find a place in Prague 1. They exist.

oh, I wondered why you recommended that hotel as a budget option as I've seen their rates before and knew they were fairly high. I thought their own web site lists them as room rates, not per person, that's where I saw them. Anyway, it's a 4* hotel so you wouldn't get it that cheap usually. they do have good winter deals, however.

Hi bhuty,

For what you are planning to pay, I can recommend the Pensione Dientzenhofer
for somewhat less.

http://www.abaka.com/Czech/Dientzenhofer

It is a few minutes walk from the Charles Bridge.

Hi bhuty: I also recommend the Pension Dientzenhofer. We returned from Prague just last week and stayed there. The location is excellent...no more than a 5 minute walk from the Charles Bridge. It is on the same side as the Castle. The price also includes breakfast. We had a nice, spacious, clean room. The staff are very warm, friendly and helpful.
