Positano Hotels- Le Agavi or the Poseidon??

Help I am deciding between the Agavi and the Poseidon I read that the beds at Le Agavi are horrible. I am interested in room qulaity, air consitioning showers, balcony, food etc. My husband will be spending 6 nights in Positano. Any other great hotel reccomendations?

We stayed at the Poseidon in October for 6 nights. It was great. The food fabulous, probably the best anywhere there. Try the seafood risotto. The staff was wonderful, especially the guys at the bar. We had a beautiful view. There is an italian market just outside the door. You can walk to anywhere and would recommend that. They also have a wonderful bus system for 1 euro if your legs can't take it anymore. I am jealous! We had air conditioning and a shower. Our bathroom was very nice, enough room for 2. I wish I could remember our number. Although we were over the garbage and it would get collected every morning at 6. OUr friends stayed there also with us and they had a great room. Spacious. I thought the beds were fine there. Have a fabulous trip!

I've stayed at the Poseidon & liked it but I wouldn't compare them - Le Agavi is much posher. Are you not seeing a big difference in prices ?

Of the 2, I've only stayed at the Poseidon and loved it. Last summer, the rates at the Poseidon were higher than at Agavi and would not say the Agavi is more posh, actually looks less posh from pictures. Also, the Agavi is not really in Positano, so not as convenient in my book.

I've e-mailed the Poseidon and haven't heard back from them. Did you have trouble getting a response from them when you initially booked?

The Poseidon is one of my favorite hotels in Italy. The jr. suites are very nice, and the food (!) and views from the restaurant are amazing.

If the hotel isn't answering you, it may be that they are closed for renovations during the winter (slow) months, or operating with less staff. Give it a few weeks, then try calling directly.

I sent and e-mail on Sunday, and had a confirmation from them on Monday. Am excited to get a room in May this late.
Thanks to all who recommended this property. Any rooms to request?
