Portofino - Looking for Hotel

I am going to Italy in April and am looking for a hotel in or around Portofino. Any suggestions?

Stay in Santa Margherita--Portofino is very small and very expensive. SML is 3 miles away and very nice.

Bob is right - SML is lovely and larger than Portofino. You can get to Portofino easily by boat, car or bus.

In SML, we stayed at the Hotel Laurin - a last minute change as we did not like the location of the B&B we had reserved. We were fortunate that the Laurin had two rooms available for the time we were there - both with lovely terraces and sea views. The hotel was conveniently located near many restaurants and shops.

Enjoy your trip!

I also stayed in SML at the hotel Laurin. It's a Best Western hotel which means you can book it at the BW website or by 800 telephone number and you get a no hassle cancellation policy if you have to change your plans. I stayed at the Laurin in December; great terrace with seaview and walking distance into city center, great buffet breakfast included, you can walk to Portofino in under an hour or take the bus from right in front of the hotel. Buses run all day and up till 8pm. I love Portofino but would never consider getting a hotel there. You'll like SML, guaranteed.

Can't help with the hotel but want to reccommend the fantastic ristorante o Magazin. We were there last week and it was wonderful. Started with the 5 fish antipasto, skewered shrimp and calamari, pasta with baby calamari and finished with white fish.
Totally delicious. Not to be missed.
Wish I were there right now!
