Pisa to Chambery?
Hello Fodorites - I was wondering if anyone could tell me what train companies go between Italy and France? I am looking to get from Pisa (or a station near Pisa) to Chambery... or even Lyon if need be. My searches online are proving to be a bit confusing so far... many thanks in advance!

You might try looking at Trenitalia to look at trains from Pisa to Torino, then on to Lyon or Geneve.
You can get from Pisa to Nice (Nizza) by train, but what you do in France from there, I don't know.
Lastly, Pisa-Milano-Geneve?

Or this, if the actual timetables and connections work out better than other routes (you could start in Livorno, or go to Firenze to get a train to Milano):

Out of curiosity, I called up the train from Torino to Lyon. Some of the trains make a stop in Chambery.
You might see which is faster: Taking a train from Pisa to Milano, then switching to a train to Torino, or taking a train from Pisa to Genova, and then to Torino.

The easiest way for checking ANY cross-border railway journey in Europe is to use the Deutsche Bahn site (www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml)
Thie only single change, all train, route seems to be the 1144 to Milan, arriving 1550 then catching the 1610, arriving Chambery 2022. This might worry you: but the alternatives require either a change of station at Turin, or getting a bus from Turin to Chambery
