Parking Lots in Florence

We will be in Florence in May and are renting a car. Could someone tell me if the Piazzale Michaelangelo lot on the south side of the Arno is just day parking or can you park there overnight. Thanks for your replies.

I would love info too. We'll be taking a car day trip to Florence from the Chianti Region and need some parking info.

Does anyone have a link to maps that show the parking of Florence.

It is a good web site, but it would be much better with integration to the bus routes. See www.ataf.net - - though its maps re almost TOO detailed; I wish there was an intermediate scale.

I will simply say this: I did NOT study maps enough for my first (day) trip into Florence (by car). We wasted way too much time, and to this day, as I look at maps, I don't really know quite where we ended up parking (three cars, in the shade, and for free, and only about 100-200 yards away from a bus stop - - I just don't know exactly where it was). It was "oltrarno" (south of the river) - - we were coming from the south, as most Tuscany "villa stay"ers (? "slowtrav"ers?) will be doing.

Best wishes,

Rex

Wonder if San joy has returned here - - and if the ability to find this post resulted in thinking that the forum isn't very useful?

Oh well, bringing this message back uo "to the top" at least once more again, since it is the first post here ever, for "sanjoy"....
