Parking in Florence

We are renting a scooter for 3 days to tour Tuscany. We are picking up our scooter in Florence and will need to park out scooter in florence for one night. Is there any free parking in Florence? Is there free parking throughout Tuscany?

Will you be spending the night, I assume, in Florence? If so, you might ask your hotel personnel about parking in proximity to where you're staying.

I'm told (do not have first-hand knowledge) that there is free parking at Piazzale Michelangelo.

times i've been in Florence it seems you can park a scooter just about anywhere. Is there a problem with theft?

Parking a scooter in Florence is an entirely different thing than parking a car. Scooters seem to be parked everywhere, but I wouldn't try and take a car into Florence if you paid me. There are places in the city to park, but with a dizzying number of restrictions. Plus, there are numerous no-traffic zones where cars are prohibited.

You should definitely ask the hotel where you can park a scooter nearby. Like PalQ, they seem to be parked all over the place, that is why everyone in Florence has them!

I must also say that I admire you for being brave enough to tour Tuscany on a scooter! That's a lot of scooter riding!

Mappy.com is the best resource I've found for parking in cities. Select map and the city you want and when it loads there will be a column of practical info on the righthand side. Select parking info and the list will appear below the map. There are 30 listed for Florence. Most of them you can click on their name if you want to e-mail for prices but I doubt you will find any that are free. We found some in Rome on mappy that were very cheap.
