Two websites say a 2,4 or 6 day pass may be ordered online. Two more websites say the 6 day pass can only be purchased at one of the museums. Does anyone know who's correct? Or is it two different passes?

you can get any of the passes either way - on line or from one of the covered museums.

However, there is no reason to buy them ahead of time. You don't get a discount - and have to pay shipping on top. So buy your passes -- if you are sure you need them at all, after you are in Paris.

You can order it online from the Paris Tourist Office without a markup, but it looks like you then have to pick up the order, so maybe it's just a tiny timesaver...

I can't believe two websites said the six day pass can only be bought at a museum. Anyway, if some website is selling them, they obviously have them. I think the websites saying they didn't sell 6-day ones (which probably aren't as popular, so they don't want to stock them) merely was referring to their own company, that's all. Any private company can't be trusted to be giving you accurate information about public resources IMO, they are only out to tell you what they are selling. You can buy that at Paris Tourist Office outlets, also.

My husband and I were in Paris last week and purchased the 2 day pass. As suggested by the other posts, I also agree that you should not pay the mark up since most of the major mus. sell the pass or you could also purchase it at the tourist office. Hope this helps.

Just remember that the passes are valid on consecutive days.

And sometimes a museum can be out of them on any given day. I recommend leaving enough time to check an extra museum if necessary.

I saw the Notre Dame crypte was out the day we visited, although the tower of Notre Dame was not that day. That was the only museum we saw which had run out during our trip. We had bought ours at the Pantheon the previous day with no problem. I seem to recall that you could buy a pass in advance but not write in the date until actually using it for the first time. Can anyone confirm that?

You are correct. We bought our pass on a Saturday but did not use it untill Wed and Thurs. You just write in the start date. Hope this helps.

I just got back from Paris on Sunday. I thought about the museum pass but in the end didn't get it. We went to the Louvre, the D'Orsay, and L'Orangerie. Now in my case that's ALL I wanted to do museum wise and the entrance fees were not very much so I didn't feel the pass was worth it. Also, because the summer crowds were gone we had no lines at any of them more than 10 minutes wait. I also didn't want to get pinned down on having to do the museums on a particular day because I had activated the pass. So, if I were traveling at a busier time of year and wanted to visit a lot more museums etc. I certainly think the pass is a bargain and most certainly a time saver.

I'm sorry if this question is redundant, but... Once a museum pass is activated, is it valid for the number of days based on the 24-hour clock (e.g., does a 2-day pass used at 3 p.m. on Monday expire at 3 p.m. on Wednesday or on Tuesday night)? Thanks.

Calendar days. If you start a 4-day pass on Monday, you can use it Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs.

I will be in Paris for a month in April and will be going to museums frequently. Is there a pass for longer than 6 days or do I just buy another one after 6 days? Also, is there any way to become a member of the Louvre? I cannot find any information about this on their web page.
