paris pass vs museum pass

When we were in Paris in 2001 we used a Passe Musee and loved it. Now we are returning with our college age kids for the last week of August. I am wondering what the difference is between the Museum Pass and the Paris Pass. Is one better? Both seem to be represented online equally. We bought our Passe Musee at the first museum we went to in 2001. Can we still do that? Everything I find online seems to be about pre-ordering but it is too late for us to have delivery to Canada and we are staying in an apartment so cannot get them delivered to a hotel.

Yes, you can still buy it at any museum.

By Paris Pass, do you mean the Paris Visite or the Paris City Pass?

We bought the 4 day Musee Pass at the tourisme office at CDG and it worked out great. We skipped the lines and also went for multiple visits to see our favorite things. The Paris Pass does have a lot of other stuff, discounts etc., but we didn't think we would use all of that.

IMO, the Paris Pass (www.paris-pass.com) is not a good deal. Why? Because the Paris Visite pass which comes as part of the package is not a good deal. There are better tranportation passes, particularly the Carte Orange.

Buy a Paris Museum Pass at any participating museum and choose whatever transportation option works best for you. That might be sharing tickets from a ten-ticket carnet, Mobilis passes, or the Carte Orange.

I often wonder why the Paris City Passport is seldom mentioned here. I am not talking about the Museum Pass or Paris Visite. This is a €5 pass offered by the Paris Tourist office, that gives €300 in discounts at various place. It covers certain museums, shopping , attractions restaurants. It is always €5 well spent.

The Paris Museum Pass is still the best deal and it saves waiting in line. Don't buy it online just get it at the first museum you go to.
