Paris in February
Does anyone know of a good hotel or apartment to rent in Paris the third or fourth week of February? I'm a woman d'un certain age traveling alone. I found one apartment at VRBO in the 8th for 55 Euros a night. Not bad, but not great. Don't want to be too far afield. Pantheon/Luxembourg is my favorite area. I assume I can re-activate my Carte Orange from 3 years ago.

Hello! Try the hotel de la Porte Doree. It's in a safe area, close to the Vincennes Hood. There is a metro station near the hotel if you need to travel into Paris. The hotel is very nice, the rooms are cute, prettily decorated, with wooden furniture, etc.. The owner of the hotel is adorable, and you can find a room from 50Euros! http://www.paris-hotels-paris.com/ . The hotel Moulin Vert has also very reasonnable prices (from 50Euros). It's in the 14th, near Montparnasse Tower, the Grands Magasins... The staff is very helpful, and friendly. The have a delighful breakfast http://www.hotel-moulinvert.com/

Try the Familia hotel on rue des ecoles. Nice rooms and breakfast , near Rue Monge and Moufftard markets and very good transport , easy walk to the Seine, several metro stops nearby.
The Carte Orange has been replaced with the Navigo decouverte. You'll need a small picture

Do you really have a Carte Orange? Because those didn't need "reactivating", they were paper cards. YOu just bought new tickets when you wanted them, that's all. It was just an ID card, really. Anyway, it does not exist, but I wondered if you really had a Navigo Decouverte which is electronic. If not, it costs 5 euro to buy one (for the card itself, on top of that is the fees for the transporation) and you do need a photo ID as you did for the Carte Orange, as noted above.
sorry, I don't know any apts that cheap, all the ones I've stayed in (and I like the Latin Qtr, also, but I stay a bit more around Censier metro) were 100-125 euro even for a studio.

Michel_Paris, I thought the same thing as you, but if you look at Capucine's comments on other threads, they have many direct links to hotels, just not the same hotels, they are all over the city. Unless of course they are part of a chain or organization, but the information provided by capucine does appear to be of hotels in the specific areas of the questions presented.

No, you are not paranoid. This person has at least 20 different names on the various websites and probably gets her commission from the IP addresses on the links. "Hope this helps!"
