Hotel in paris with character
Im in paris in july for two nights. i have some hotel ideas but totally not sure which area to stay and what hotel. the key points are under 100 euros, near transit, and i would love for the hotel to have a little charm where you can either see the eiffel tower out our balcony or have just the right pastry shop next door. i love character on a budget like that.

Have a look at the Hotel Sevigne, it's in the Marais which is a nice area, a coffee shop is on the ground floor, we had a view of the Rue du Rivoli from a little balcony. Room was small but fine, not sure what the prices are now but we always travel on a budget so it wasn't expensive. Two mins walk to a metro station and easy walk to Notre Dame and the Ile St Louis etc.

Paris is generally very expensive and the hotel rooms are tiny - its incredibly hard to find anything decent under €100. If you stretch your budget a bit you'll get much better value for money and will get a good nights sleep - here's a selection of great boutique hotels http://en.escapio.com/boutique-hotels/paris. The city is not big so you can walk everywhere, and there are free bikes too so you can enjoy like a local!

You might try La Familia on rue des ecoles. Some rooms do have a small balcony. I'm assuming the 100 Euro is for a single room. Really good transportation options, breakfast and free wIFI included

I'm staying at Hotel des Carmes next month. It was recommended by someone here. I'll post a trip report when I return. I think it meets your requirements but I guess I'll find out about the charm factor!

I just returned from Hotel Carmes and it was fine for us. It is a 2* hotel and there is little charm but the location was great (a short walk to Notre Dame and the Louvre
), there is an elevator, the staff were all very pleasant, and we never heard our neighbors. The bed was comfortable and there was enough room to walk around it on all sides. The bathroom was teeny but sufficient, there was a good shower and even a bathmat! Our room was 99 a night for a double. I would consider it for another trip, if I am ever lucky enough to return to France.

The Hôtel de France - Invalides has singles for 90 euro. The hotel has recently been renovated and has a sort of modern "charm," but it's certainly not elegant. Some rooms have balconies with a view of the Tour Eiffel, but I'm not sure the 90 euro ones would. Others have balconies or windows overlooking Les Invalides. Rooms are small, but it's a nice little place with a very helpful staff, and there are certainly myriad patisseries, cafés, etc. nearby.
