Our experience in the LQ was at the Hotel des Nations. Good location, friendly and helpful staff. Priced at 100 to 125 Euros. We have recommended it to others and they have also had a good experience. Have a good trip.

I see you are new to Fodors, you might not know about the search function. Toward the top of the screen you will see a box for searching. If you type in Paris and Hotel and Latin (or something similar) in there you will find lots of really good information about just your question. It can then be a good idea to come back and ask for specific recent feedback on a few named hotels. I generally stay in lower than 3 - 4 star hotels (unless my husband does the chosing and then it is 4 star all the way) but there are lots in the area that would suit you. I stayed most recently in the Hotel Monge but that is only a 2 star, suited us fine.

Just want to warn you that the Latin Qtr is not the place to look for 4* hotels as there aren't hardly any. I think there are only two: the Relais St Jacques and Les Rives de Notre Dame (which is right smack on the quai next to the river).

Now, I haven't stayed in either but have actually read reviews and comments about both and I think both are considered good choices.

Aside from those, I know the Hotel Du Pantheon is well-liked as a very nice 3* hotel

It has a sister property Hotel des Grands Hommes, also, but I think the Pantheon is a bit nicer if I'm remembering correctly. The Hotel de la Tour Notre Dame is another nice 3*.

There are plenty of 4 star hotels in the Left Bank. One of our favorites is the Relais Christine in the 6th. Rooms start at about $400/night. The Relais Christine is a converted monastery with lovely rooms ( although some can be small-- ask to see another immediately on checking in if you don't like the first) staff and perfect location ( within walking to many major sights and shopping).

There are plenty more. If you do a check for previous posts on these, you'll find lots of info.

The Buci Latin isn't the Buci Latin anymore, it's the Artis now and it's definitely a 4-star boutique.
On the 3 star front, the Aramis St. Germain and the Sully St. Germain are good ones.

I'd say it is a three star, but if you can manage to book the entire top floor room with giant wrap-around terraces at the Hotel Park St. Severin, next to St. Severin Church, go for it. We booked it for a full week at about $275 a night summer of 2002. It's room #70.

there are plenty of 4* hotels on the Left Bank, but that isn't what the poster asked about. She asked about places in the Latin Qtr. I assumed she meant that specifically, not just the entire Left Bank.

txchick, check out www.dupantheonhotel.com also in the 5th directly across for the Pantheon, the top floor rooms have lovely views.Check the web site for winter specials.

You are right. Txchick DID ask specifically for hotels in the Latin Quarter. This is what I get for posting before the coffee's started to work! But maybe Txchick won't mind the other recs, since most of them are a short walk from the Latin Quarter.

Although we didn't have the view that Patrick must have had, we very much enjoyed staying at Hotel Parc St. Severin in Sept. Nice room, small but not tiny, had a nice foyer with shelf for luggage between the room and private bath, 125E for a double room. Great area as well.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We actually ended up going outside the LQ and going with Villa Luxembourg (great rate on laterooms.com)If anyone has any experiences here would love to hear about them

Regarding the Hotel du Pantheon I checked the room sizes and if you are interested do consider the smallness of their rooms-that was surprising to me.

The hotel quoted that a superior double as only 11 sq. m. (rack rate 233 euros) while a standard double is even smaller at 10 sq. m. (rack rate 213 euros)-and breakfast is not included!
