Paris Hotel in the 7th
Will be traveling to Paris for 3-nights in September 2007. My husband would like to stay in the 7th by the Eiffel Tower.
Would like suggestions for a nice hotel in this area in the 150-160 Euro range.
Preferably not on the Rue Cler.
Please .................

Hotel Duquesne Eiffel (see www.exclusive-hotels.fr ) and Hotel Relais Bosquet are two I would consider with that criteria

Seconding the Relais Bosquet. Loved it. Close by but not right on Rue Cler, good restaurants close by and definitely short walking distance to the Eiffel Tower. Relais Bosquet had nice but not fussy rooms and the staff was always cordial. I was touched that someone in housekeeping realized I had a sweet tooth - my candy dish and little tray of biscuits was always replenished whenever I went out. I only had breakfast there one morning, but it was good and worth the money, IMO.

The Derby Eiffel was very nice. The room was quite a decent size for Paris, if not particularly full of character. It's right next to the Ecole Militaire metro station, about 5 minute walk from La Tour Eiffel, and there are quite a few nearby restaurants, bistros and little markets.
And it's definitely in your price range.

I've stayed at the Derby Eiffel in 2001 and liked it. In 2 weeks I'm staying at the Best Western Trocadero which has great reviews on tripadvisor and was 83 E a night - some of the rooms have a view of the Eiffel Tower - when I get back, I'll be doing a trip report so keep an eye out for it.

We just had friends stay at Hotel Muguet last month and they loved the new decor that is less than a year old and they requested a room with a view and got it. www.hotelparismuguet.com.

I have to second the Hotel Muguet suggestion. It's a couple of blocks from (but not right on) Rue Cler on a quiet residential street, walking distance to lots of cafes, two metro stops, Tour Eiffel, Musee d'Orsay, Rodin Museum -- we even walked to the Louvre, Champs Elysees and Quartier Latin (longer but enjoyable walks). We stayed at the Muguet for five days last year and will be there again in Dec.
