Paris Hotel

My boyfriend and I are planning a 3 day trip in Paris. It will be our first time there. We will be there mid July. I have no idea what part of the city to stay in. We would like to be near some restaurants/bars and not too far from a metro stop. Any suggestions on hotels or even just areas to help narrow it down would be awesome. Thanks!!

Welcome to Fodor's! There are lots of choices on this thread and it might be a good starting point for you. You haven't told us your budget so it's hard to be too specific.

Thanks. I'm trying to stay under $200 a night.

So, around 150€... you should think in 'euro' when you do your hotel research...
Do you think you'd prefer to have A/C ? It is becoming more prevalent, but still not a given ammenity.
You might enjoy the Latin Quarter (Paris 75005) or le Marais (Paris 75004)... both are central locations.
Metro stations are pretty densely located, the longest walk you might ever have is 500 meters (estimate not fact...).
You could 'shop' the 'left bank' hotels discussed in the linked thread above - you'd like arrondissements 6th and 5th (so post codes 75006, 75005 in the hotel addresses).

I also think the Latin Qtr or Marais would be good, but I don't think there are that many great hotels in the Marais, and they tend to be expensive.

AC is pretty typical now in 3* and higher hotels in Paris, although always check to be sure. Only a few 2* hotels have it, but some do. Here are some budget hotels in the Latin Qtr, you would like the location, anyway.
