Hotel recommendations. I know I am late in booking for late May so need to get going. Someone recommended Hotel Diana in the Latin District but it was booked. I am open to which area we stay. We plan to visit the usual tourist sites and also hope to get tickets to the French Open We are walkers so love to walk to some of the sites and will use public transportation for the others. We are always interested in a good location with of course a clean room but it does not need to be luxurious as we will be gone most of the day.

Yes.. its is very late.. especially since your dates seem to coincide with other popular events.. ( and I think there are several holidays in May too)

Hotel Diana would have been a good choice.. however.. look at Hotel College du France, I haven't stayed there because rooms have no ac and I usually visit in july and august.. hot months.. should be fine for you in May. Its well reviewed and I have walked by it several times.. great area.

I should have mentioned that we are in our 60's, not big into bars or the music scene but do like quaint and nice restaurants.

I'd second the Hotel du College de France.

I third the hotel du college de France having stayed there 3 times. Ask for a room facing the street. The ones facing the interior are dark with no view whatsoever. Great location and is on a side street.

Another vote for Hotel du College de France. I stayed in July and found the ceiling fan adequate most nights. I prefer an open window and fan to AC anyway. I had a room open to the light well so there wasn't a view but I didn't find it dark. It was quieter than a street-facing room would have been, IMO..

As mentioned above you can walk many places, plenty of eating options nearby and it fits the quaint label. I was by myself and felt safe walking back in evenings. As you said, I was out all day anyway.

There's a lovely restaurant right across the street.

The hotel du college de France sits on the corner of 2 side streets so there's minimal street noise if you fave a room facing the street. . I would imagine that if you were on a higher floor, a room facing the light well would, indeed, be brighter as eigasuki mentioned.

The rue Lanneau is just a short distance from the hotel and has several restaurants there, one of which is Le Petit Prince which is good.
