Paris - 3 Days in Feb
Hi,
We are a couple in our late 20s and will be visiting Paris for the first time in February (from 16th-19th).
Any suggestions for what are the must-do's and must-see's in this city ? What should not be missed ? We are looking for recommendations for how we should spend our 3 days in Paris.

Kau it would be helpful to know what your interests are or if you have specific qusetions on whether something is a "must see".
The Eiffel Tower, Arc de triomphe,Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacre Coeur, the Louvre & Musee D'Orsay are probably considered by most to be the key sights. Angelina's on the Rue de Rivoli for hot chocolate is an essential Paris stop for many. If you've got specific interests let us know so we can help.

Thanks for your reply. Our interests are mainly: scenic beauty, architecture and buildings, culture (to an extent)and history. We are not too fond of fashion, shopping or theatre going.
Your list seems great, is there anything else we should absolutely not miss ?

mclaurie's suggestions are good. In 3 days you'll have enough time to see the major sights - or an overview of them, anyway.
Get a good guide/map & wear very comfortable shoes. Paris is best seen on foot.
I would also suggest the musee du Cluny & Invalides be added to your list & certainly a wander through the jardins du Luxembourg (not really park weather in Feb though) & the 5th & 6th arr.

If you are investing the money to go to Paris, invest the money in a guidebook or two. Paris is one of the world's most important cities, and there is a wealth of things to "do and see" from every perspective - historical, cultural, architectural, musical....you name it. It's hardly possible for any person on a message board to give you a list of what to do and see in such a place as Paris. Do what the rest of us, even those who have been to Paris a zillion times do - research.
After you've narrowed down your interests, people here will be in a far better position to help you than they would with a general plea for what do do and see in Paris. We have no clue what your particular interests are or whether you'd rather spend three hours in the Musée Picasso, explore Paris's underground, grab unusual foostuffs from Fauchon, or shop in the high-end boutiques.

I don't think you should go to a major city without buying a guidebook, except maybe on business, even if only 3 days if it's important to you. Any decent guidebook will list the major tourist attractions and must sees with considerable consensus. Given your age, you might like the Timeout guidebook to Paris, they have a younger slant and are very good. A lot of people do like Eyewitness, and the basics will give you must sees I'm sure (Frommers or Fodors). I think Fodors has basic sightseeing information free right on this web site in the Destination section (as does Frommers on theirs), and Timeout probably does also, if you really don't want to buy a guidebook.

Kau- Don't miss taking a boat ride (bateau mouche or other) down the Seine. Great view of the architecture & the beautiful bridges. Also make sure you see Notre Dame lit at night (as well as visiting it during the day) & climbing up for the view. Have a great trip!

I second the ride on the bateau mouches
ESPECIALLY if you have a nice sunny day. We went one afternoon, after walking for MILES...it is a glorious city for walking and I don't think there's a spot that doesn't "look" like you've imagined Paris will look. One of my favorite place is Place des Vosges not far from the Picasso Museum...which isn't the greatest place to see Picasso paintings, sculture, etc but the building itself is quite charming. Another favorite is Musee Carnavalet, which tracks the history of Paris. All three of these "attractions" are in the Marais area of the city. Fantastic restaurants and even good shopping (for non shoppers!) in little boutiques and if you make the right wrong turns, "outlets" for mens and womens clothing. Have a lovely time. I can't imagine that not happening...
