Packing for Italy, Switzerland, Germany
I will be traveling soon to Italy, Switzerland, and germany. The tour company said to travel LIGHT. So I need to know what to pack for comfort and weather. Is it hot in late June early July? Are you allowed in museums, churchs, ect. in shorts? If anyone can help me please do. Thanks

I know more and more people are wearing shorts, but perhaps capri pants or a comfortable skirt would be more appropriate for churches, and you'd still be cool if the weather is warm (not as many air conditioned places!). If you can, find some things in Tencel fabric--thin, light (great for packing!) and usually doesn't wrinkle!

Take a look at weatherbase.com and worldclimate.com for historical average temps and rainfall in the cities on your itinerary. I will say that Switzerland and Germany are generally not hot in those months, EXCEPT the last two summers here which have been brutally hot, and very little air-conditioning. I would go for layers to be prepared. Switzerland gets a lot of rain (I live here), that's why it is so green. Higher elevations in Switzerland can be cool, especially at night.
Italian churches generally frown on shorts on both women and men and exposed shoulders on women (no sleeveless shirts.) Some churches, like the Vatican have people at the door who will turn you away if you are not dressed properly. At other churches the code is not imposed, but you may get comments from others in the church if you are not dressed appropriately. Churches in Germany and Switzerland have relaxed dress codes, at least that is my experience. I am kind of surprised your tour company has not provided this basic information.

It will depend partly: on general weather patterns this summer, your altitude, and time of day (given these 3 countries and those 2 months). Though not typical I was caught in a *heatwave* in Switzerland two summers back (had to go to the Uniprix and buy a few pair of shorts!!).
Take simple pieces you can layer (similar both men and women) for example: 2 pants, 1 short, 7 shirts (1 tank, 3 tshirt, 1 vest, 1 short sleeve button up, 1 long sleeve), 1 thin knit cardigan, 1 blazer. 2 pair shoes, socks, underwear. This will all fit in a 22-24" roller suitcase. Plus one more of each type clothing piece you'll be wearing on the plane.

European adults generally do not wear shorts except at a resort/for specific athletic activity. In Italy if you are wearing shorts of sleeveless/bare tops you will be refused entrance to many chuches or will probably get nasty comments/looks.
The usual weather for your trip will be a combination of quite hot to possibly cool in the evenings in Switzerland/ Germany so be sure to bring a couple of light jackets or sweaters. the most important thing is good walking shoes - shoes with heels are generally useless since so many areas have cobblestones or other uneven paving.
