Orleans and Chartres hotel help!

We are driving through the Loire valley to Paris and most of the hotels are booked, except for one in the Orleans area and one somewhere in between Le Mans and Chartres. Can anyone make a recommendation for a nice or charming place-3 or 4 star?

Thanks!

Just wondering, with all those who have driven through the Loire Valley, hasn't anyone got a suggestion?

Amy--you'll probably get some responses if you narrow it down a little--when are you going, how many nights, how many people, and what is your budget?

Are you looking for a quaint, out of the way chateau, or a basic Accor-type chain accomodation? You say you are going to Paris, but where are you starting out? Fill in the blanks, and get a world of info. Barb

Barb,

I am only looking for a hotel for one night in or just outside of Orleans and a hotel for one night near Chartres, or perhaps a bit outside on the way to Le Mans. It is just for my husband and myself and we are looking to spend 100 euros or less. Obviously quaint is great, but I wouldn't want to venture miles and miles out of our way. We are headed there from the Burgundy region.

I thought I had been fairly specific about the areas, but perhaps this provides more detail.

I know that Fodors has some suggestions for hotels in Orleans on this site (if you go to accommodations). You might also try Karen Brown (she has a website) for more unique (and often expensive) accommodations.

We booked L'Abbaye in Beaugency through chateauxhotels.com. This website offers accommodations in spectacular chateaux or chateaux-like settings. L'Abbaye was a former monastery. I think the price was 90 euros for mid-week accommodations.

HTH!
