Help! Anybody have any experience at the Cotton Exchange Hotel in New Orleans?

We have reservations for Labor Day weekend, for $73.00 a night! The hotel looks beautiful on the website, but experience has shown us that appearances can be deceiving. Has anyone stayed there and can give us feedback? Thank you so much!

I found a couple of old reviews that say the hotel tends to overbook and may not honor reservations; does anyone on this board have any personal experience with the hotel who can confirm or deny this? Thanks!!

The hotel doesn't have a great reputation locally but I must add that I've never personally been inside the property. I, too, have read that the hotel has not honored reservations and/or moved people to sister hotels miles away from the French Quarter. Check tripadvisor.com. Maybe they have some newer reviews. Sorry I couldn't be more help!!

Thanks Dan. You said the hotel doesn't have a good reputation "locally," does that mean you live in New Orleans and have actually heard this?

Yes, I do live in New Orleans. Went to school here (Tulane) and worked as a concierge. Now work for a non-tourism company downtown, just a couple of blocks from the Cotton Exchange Hotel. I'll check it out one day!

I heard they closed; or was that the store with the same name? I live in the Quarter but have not had time to wander down that way the past few days.

We have reservations there for 5 nights the first week of November. I have been reading the reviews on TripAdvisor and those people are scaring me to death! Some people on TripAdvisor state that the Cotton Exchange is the same as the Holiday Inn and share personnel, arrive to find they have no reservations, horrible service, nasty rooms and no amentites. Can those of you who are local check this out for us? Much appreciated!!

We stayed there for 3 nights in March and had a great time. The room was small but nice. Service and the location were good.
