New Orleans hotel suggestions

Hi we are a middle aged couple considering a New Orleans getaway over Thanksgiving weekend. I would appreciate suggestions for hotels with charm,on the quieter side (we're not late night party folk), but not too far away from sights. comfort is probably the priority. thanks

Dauphine Orleans. The hotel rooms are a good value.
The Hermann House courtyard rooms across the street are private, charming and romantic.

Check out reviews, including ours (The Roosevelt - The Best) on this Hilton/Waldorf-Astoria hotel right across from the French Quarter but not in it.

We love the Royal Sonesta. It's on Bourbon Street, but if you get a room overlooking the courtyard/pool you won't hear any noise from the street at all. The inside corner rooms are the largest.

Although there are a lot of great places to stay in New Orleans my fist choice would be Hotel Monteleone. It's an old, classic, European style hotel that's right in the Quarter. The rooms are beautiful, has a great restaurant and the famous Carousel Bar.

We like the International House. Across Canal from the Quarter but close enough to walk. Nice rooms, nice staff, and always reasonable.
