KY. Folks & Calif. Folks headed to New Orleans

Some old friends are getting together in late Sept. and we are heading to New Orleans. Neither has ever been. so were needing alot of advice & recommendations.
Best locations to stay, hotel (price range $100 a nite), restuarants, tours. We will be there for 4 days and really want to get a taste of New Orleans

The safest and most convenient place to stay in New Orleans is in the heart of the French Quarter, but I'd be really surprised if you can find anything near your price range.

We have stayed at these hotels many times, and recommend both.

Locations in the FQ are excellent. The Provincial is much smaller and more "New Orleans-y" but the Royal Orleans is lovely (and right on Bourbon).

You might check to see if the Saints are playing in NO while you're there. If so, rooms might be scarce.

Have a wonderful trip!
