Now showing in Paris

If you like movies, Paris is the city for you, since it shows the greatest variety of movies of any city in the world -- and of course it invented the cinémathèque.

This morning, I was supposed to go to a test screening of an upcoming film (and fill out a questionaire), and since I arrived early, it inspired me to take photographs of what is playing at the movie theatres on the Champs Elysées at the moment.

So I did that, and here is the photo link: http://tinyurl.com/ykwyyhc

Unfortunately, they announced that the test screening was cancelled because there were "editing problems." They refused to tell us the name of the movie in question, but they showed us a movie coming out next January as a consolation. It was pretty good, so I was not annoyed, unlike some of the people who walked out. Some people need to be part of a special elite for some reason.

Very timely. I am leaving for Paris tomorrow and will be there for two weeks. Any French movies you've seen recently that you can recommend? I've made note of the two described in the photo essay.

That's what I'm looking for, French films. Any ideas?

I need to sleep now, but I will return with suggestions tomorrow.

Do you prefer comedies or dramas?

Comedies, I think. Those French talky ones where they talk too fast for me to catch everything they say. (Which is pretty much all of them.)
