Ah Paris the City of Light - yes thanks for sharing. The end of WW2 in Paris or the Liberation of Paris was much brighter I think with parades and American GIs bussing French gals and probably passing out chewing gums.

Hi CIGALECHANTA,

Thanks for sharing this piece - "The twenties were a time that belonged to artists and writers, the most notable city residents being Hemingway, Ezra Pound, Picasso and James Joyce - so huge was the influence of these personalities that many of the frequented cafés still live off the legacy today."

So true. I read that Hemingways' MOVEABLE FEAST is flying off the shelves in Paris. Many copies have been left among the memorials of flowers and candles at the scenes of the atrocities.

From the introduction - ""If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast."

So sad, but true...

Requests for Hemingway's A Moveable Feast have gone past 500 a day compared to 10 a day before the attacks.

(French title: Paris est une fête.)
