Need itinerary advice for 5 days in Corfu
My husband and I will be spending 5 days/4 nights in Corfu this July. We have never been there, but hear wonderful things about the island.
I am intrigued by Paxos and would love to spend at least a couple of days in Paxos and Antipaxos, exploring the beaches, etc. We do understand that there is much to see/explore in Corfu as well.
Any recommendations on whether to split our stays between Corfu and Paxos, or simply use Corfu as a base and take day trips to Paxos? We'll be arriving 10am the first day and can leave as late as 7pm the last day.

Hi Bostonjenn
5 days isn't a long time to see Corfu. It's a fairly big island and you could easily spend 2 or 3 days just in Corfu Town alone. For some good info on the different areas of island have a look at the Corfu Travel Guide here - http://www.agni.gr/guides/index.asp
However, as a hopeless Paxos addict, I would recommend that you spend at least a day there. I've written my own mini-guide to the island on the above website - http://www.agni.gr/members/Paxos/ElaineK/index.asp which includes details of how to do a daytrip from Corfu.
To be honest, July isn't the ideal time to visit Anti-Paxos. There is little shade on the island, so exploring it on foot is pretty much out of the question at that time of year and the beaches where the seataxis and tourist boats drop you off get absolutely jam-packed in July and August, so you won't really see the best of it. Certainly, if you just go to Paxos on a daytrip, I would say that your time will be better spent exploring the main island of Paxos itself, rather than trying to cram Anti-Paxos in as well.
However, if you decide to stay overnight on Paxos, then one of the organised boat trips that take you round the island to the western caves and then on to Anti-Paxos is a very pleasant way to spend a day and will give you views of the island that you wouldn't otherwise see. Alternatively, you could just take a seataxi from Gaios and spend a couple of hours on the beach at Vrika and have lunch in one of the two tavernas there.
If you do decide to stay overnight on Paxos, I would advise you to book accommodation in advance, since the island gets quite full during high season. There are links to local rental agencies on my page, or you could try the Paxos Club or Paxos Beach hotels - http://www.paxosclub.gr/EN/general.asp

Whatever you decide, have a great time! I'll be on Paxos from 8-28 July, so maybe we'll run into each other
