Need Hotel Suggestions in Siena

I am spending three days in Siena in the middle of October. I am looking for a charming place to stay. The price range per night is open. I would like to recommendations for both expensive and
inexpensive places.
The Duomo is very well located and very popular; nothing fancy, but certainly adequate. As Italy goes, I'd consider it rather inexpensive.

There has been much discussion here on favorite hotels in Siena. Why not do a search for "Siena Hotels"...you should find lots of good information.

Our only experience in Siena was at the Palazzo Ravizza and we enjoyed the stay and would recommend it.

Albergo Bernini--$80 night with huge windows. The owner loves to show off his terrace which has a view of the Duomo and San Domenico, and which is practically right on top of St. Catherine's sanctuary.

As always for Siena, will you have a car? That makes all the difference.

A vote for the Antico Torre so you can stagger home just a short distance after you have the greatest meal of your life at the Cane e Gatto.

The Park Hotel Siena is nice. In a renovated villa w/pool. Not right in downtown, easy if you have a car and walkable otherwise.

Hi,
We agree on the restaurant Cane y Gato, it was excellent and worth a long walk if needed. However, the Hotel Antica Torre was noisy, but worst of all,the hostess was a chain smoker. If you do not smoke, avoid this place. The smoke filtered up three floors to our room and it was constant. Also, the bathrooms were cramped and they would not allow us to take breakfast in our room because they were afraid we would spill coffee in the bed. Opt for something a little nicer and cleaner. Don't miss the restaurant though, it was great!!!

The sister hotel of the Park is called the Grand Hotel. It is stunning and right smack in the middle of Siena. If you want to stay inside the walls, this is a fabulous place. Rooms are luxurious and beautifully decorated. Cost is about equal to the Palazzo Ravizza. If your stay is more than two nights they will happily cut a deal with you. Outside the walls there are plenty to choose from. As Bob pointed out, it really depends on whether or not you plan on having a car.
