Need help with Nuremberg parking question during Christmas Markets

We will be visiting Nuremberg as a day trip this December. We will have a car and I would like to figure out ahead of time the best place to park to visit the city. My guess is that it would be best to find a lot outside of the city and take public transportation in, but I'm not having any luck searching the web. I've found a map of the subway lines, but it doesn't tell me if there are parking lots nearby.

We are coming from Munich and will be heading to Rothenburg afterward. Thanks for any help you can offer!

There is one rather big Park+Ride lot at the southeastern end of subway line 1 at Langwasser-Süd station.
It's not that far from A9 autobahn, coming from Munich.
Never used that lot myself, so I cannot tell if it's easy to find.

No need to go to P&R. There are numerous parking lots or garages within walking distance of the Markt. You just have to look for the blue signs with the white "P" A covered "P" means a parking garage. No matter how you enter the city, you will see the signs.

If you want to have an exact location, go to http://tinyurl.com/38dgdp
for a map of the city.
Under the "Suchequot; choose "Verkehr" In the next block under "Verkehr" choose "Grossparkplatz" or "Parkhaus" and you will get the location on the map.

Try the glüwein and lebkuchen and be sure to see the international portion of the market.

Have fun!

Depends on day and time: on a busy Saturday morning during Christmas time, it is not much fun to navigate a city. Parking garages fill up fast and traffic can be sluggish with all those shoppers and Christmas market visitors.

On a regular weekday, after 9am, it should not be too much hassle to go downtown by car.

We drove right into the center of town and parked with in a block of the market. There are several garages clearly marked with the big blue P. This was on a week day morning.
