Getty Museum questions

I'm planning to take my mom to the Getty for a few hours before taking her to LAX for her flight back to the UK on Wednesday. I've never been. I know from here and the Getty website that parking reservations are no longer required. However, is it possible to actually park? Or is it so crowded that you have to park off-site and shuttle? If so, where is the alternate parking?

Thanks for any advice.

Parking availability seems to depend on the day of the week/holiday season, etc. We've been twice, first time we had no trouble, parked right in garage, second time we went they made us park in a lot across the street. Both times were during Christmas holidays however. We got their about 10 a.m. on both occasions as well. When we left quite a few hours later the lines to get into parking stretched for what seemed like miles.

I would allow plenty of time for parking "just in case" you hit a crowded day.

Thanks, Lori. We'll probably get there about 11am, so maybe I'll make back up plans just in case!

Hi Barbara-

I was at the Getty 2 weeks ago on a Friday. I arrived around 3pm and had no problem parking in the garage. I think you will be ok going on a Wed morning.

yk, thanks very much. I'm hoping that, as the weather isn't great, there won't be masses of people there.
