Can't comment on the hotels you referenced, but we stayed at Petrasos Beach Hotel and loved it.

Very reasonable price, great views of the bay/pool, incredibly friendly staff, excellent b'fast buffet and bus stops just outside hotel for trip to Mykonos town.

I think you meant to type Petasos Beach Hotel. I stayed there, too, and liked it.

Hello newyork10153

Hotal Rochari is well known in our town. It is run by one of the oldest island families, called Kousathanas. The hotel is known to have one of the highest return rates for guests who go back every year.

Its outlook is very good, with mostly sea facing bedrooms. The rooms are typical Greek, have TV, air conditioning, safe deposit and most have a balcony or a terrace. The family and staff are very friendly and I think this is why so many people go back there. It has a very large pool and restaurant/snack area overlookign the town.

To walk to the harbour from the hotel is only about 6 or 7 minutes but the hotel iteslf sits in a quiet area also called 'rochari'. The name comes from a small stream where cows and sheep used to drink close to the hotel.

If I can recommend anything it is to request a room with a sea view and not a garden view room.

The Rania Apartments are close to Rochari Hotel and same elevation with good views. It is also close to the main road that runs around the town so you must ask for rooms/bungalow facing towards sea. You do not wish to have rooms/house facing main road as it is noisy all day and night. The houses are in a private garden style of place but are not old. I hear very little about the accomoodation so maybe that is good. Again, you should specify sea view room/studio and not garden view.

Both hotels are in slightly elevated position overlooking Mykonos town. In hot weather a person who has walking difficulty might find a problem. But, both are good accomodations.

HI Gaspard

Nice to hear you. Have you visited again? Ano Mera?

We have just returned to the island after 6 weeks in Athens. Our baby needs hospital care so we decide to stay in teh city instead of travelling back and toward the island so many times. Athens was very hot and the island has been also, although a little cooler because of sea winds. It is good to be home now.

My brother tells me he thinks it is not so busy this year but he says that every year as he is a business man!

Today there were many new visitors from some cruise ships and they will leave later tonight. Also, Greek Navy ship will visit tomorrow for some official business and that is always intresting to be here when they come and see us.

Regards,

thanos
