Munich hotels in May

Hi,

My sisters and I are planning to be in Munich from May 4 to May 8. I'm having a hard time finding hotels with vacancies during that time period. Is something going on that we haven't seen listed anywhere? We are looking at reasonably affordable hotels, so is that what is making the big difference? Need advice, will be arriving via train and leaving by plane.
Thanks
Dolores

Last year we visited Germany in June. Some of the hotels were not showing vacancies at this time of year because they had not posted the new room rates and did not want to rent rooms at the prior year rates.

Munich is not the most expensive city in Germany but it is also not the least expensive. So what is considered "reasonably affordable" might be a bit higher, especially with May in the high season.

We liked the Blauer Bock for a good location near the Sbahn and Ubahn stops and the city center. It seemed middle class with a good breakfast:

Oh, Ira go ahead and recommend the Uhland..you always do even though it isn't air conditioned. They could do worse I suppose.

Very simple explanation - the period around Ascension (May 1) and Whitsunday (May 11/12) is peak travel time. Book early.

In reply to Ira, we are hoping to find a three bed room. This way we can split the cost. We'd like to stay under $100 a night for each of us. No more than $300 per night. With the dollar going down the tubes, I'm not sure if we can do it.
