munich departure

we have a 7 a.m. airport departure from Munich. any pensions or hotels close by the airport? we assume airport bus or subways do not operate early enough to get us from the central city to the airport for our flight. Suggestions?

edithblack,

Here is a link to hotels in Munich by area. This link is from The Munich Tourist Bureau.

http://www.muenchen-tourist.de/englisch/index_e.htm

In addition, the S-Bahn to the airport (#8) starts just after 3:00 a.m.
You can stay downtown or by the airport, and have no trouble catching your flight.

Curious

Hotel Kempinski is right at the airport, geared at business travellers so possibly quite expensive. There is a new hotel just a few minutes from the airport (it looks like it is in the middle of nowhere) and I think this is an Astron Hotel...

The U & S in Munich operates 24/7 and you should have no problem getting to the airport from downtown on the day of your departure.

There is a Best Western right across the street from the primary train station in Munich which we always use for just that reason. Check the Best Western sight. Unlike other European countries the trains in Germany seem to always be running.

edithblack may have already found something, but perhaps this will help someone else. We also have an early flight out of MUC. I have booked a room at the Movenpick Hotel, which is very near the airport. They have an airport shuttle which leaves every half hour, starting at 5:30 am.

Edith,
We stay in a town that virtually borders on the airport, Hallbergmoos.

Here's the town's website http://www.hallbergmoos.de/
Click "Für unsere Gäste" link on left of page and follow the hotel links. Drive to the airport is ~6-7 minutes.
hth,
