I'm going to the Moulin Rouge in Paris with a Cityrama tour (no dinner included). Can I wear jeans or do I need to wear something a little dressier? I'm trying to pack light and would rather not take "good" clothes or shoes for just 1 or 2 occasions in a 6 week holiday.

There is a dress code and it IS zealously enforced.

No jeans, and they will definitely not let you in if you are wearing any type of shoe that resemble sneakers/tennis shoes. I say some turned away. Their website says jacket & tie would be appreciated -- no shorts.

I've seen them turn people away wearing shorts. They seem very serious about the dress code.

I was there in February and there were plenty of pepole wearing jeans and sneakers. However I think it's nice to make a bit of an effort.

I would not stress about the dress code - so long as you are dressed nicely then you will be fine. The seating is mostly 'family style' and a bit tight so wear something that is comfortable and NOT too warm.

Whatever would make people think it reasonable to wear shorts - or sneakers/jeans to a nighclub? This isn;t a college town dive bar. (Not that I'm reco'ing it - but if you decide to go to such a place at least don;t dress like you're cleaning out the garage.)

Going to the Moulin Rouge (I have been twice) is a special occasion, and I think you would be more comfortable if you dressed the part.
