Moulin Rouge Paris
I'm going to the Moulin Rouge in Paris with a Cityrama tour (no dinner included). Can I wear jeans or do I need to wear something a little dressier? I'm trying to pack light and would rather not take "good" clothes or shoes for just 1 or 2 occasions in a 6 week holiday.

There is a dress code and it IS zealously enforced.

No jeans, and they will definitely not let you in if you are wearing any type of shoe that resemble sneakers/tennis shoes. I say some turned away. Their website says jacket & tie would be appreciated -- no shorts. ((b))

I've seen them turn people away wearing shorts. They seem very serious about the dress code.
|
I was there in February and there were plenty of pepole wearing jeans and sneakers. However I think it's nice to make a bit of an effort.
|
Thanks. It looks like I'll have to take the extra clothes.

I would not stress about the dress code - so long as you are dressed nicely then you will be fine. The seating is mostly 'family style' and a bit tight so wear something that is comfortable and NOT too warm.

I've seen them shoting down people wearing shorts. Very strict, indeed...

Very strict indeed?
Whatever would make people think it reasonable to wear shorts - or sneakers/jeans to a nighclub? This isn;t a college town dive bar. (Not that I'm reco'ing it - but if you decide to go to such a place at least don;t dress like you're cleaning out the garage.) |
Going to the Moulin Rouge (I have been twice) is a special occasion, and I think you would be more comfortable if you dressed the part. You would also be showing respect to the other patrons (not all of them tourists) who pay the hefty cover charge to see the show. Their website is http://www.moulinrouge.fr/home-flash-gb.html. You will find the dress code on the Reservation page.

Thanks. I'll be packing a set of good clothes.
