Montana Hotel, London

I have read positive comments on the Montana Hotel in Kensington. I called the hotel and they said they don't have specific non-smoking rooms, they just "treat" the room after guests depart. For those of you who have stayed there (and don't smoke), do the rooms smell smoky?

We stayed at the Montana Hotel last June. We are anti-smokers but did not have any problems at all with either of our two rooms. No yukky smells from carpet or curtains etc. It's a nice, basic hotel. A little old around the edges but it has a good indian restaurant and very helpful desk staff. Also, the location is tremendous. Across the road from the tube, lots of eateries and a supermarket and the bus stop for the hop on hop off bus is really close. Enjoy!

toni - if you are still around, or bcc if you ended up staying there: I am considering the Montana Hotel for next March. There's a huge difference in price between the ensuite single room and the shared bath room. One site I went to said the shared bath was only by two rooms. Do you happen to know what the deal is? If it's really just one other room and it's across the hall that would be fine. What I don't want is to have to walk down a long corrider and share a bathroom with several other people. Anyone know? Also, how's the breakfast?
Thanks

hey isabel, I'm still around thank God. I can't help you with the bathroom situation but they did not have many rooms per floor so I don't think it would be too bad, if that's what you want. I think the breakfast was basically juice, cereal?, toast and tea/coffee, not bad for the price.

I stayed there a couple of months ago and thought it was a little frayed around the edges and my ensuite smelt a little unpleasant (not sure what of exactly). I really hate cigarette smoke, but my room did not smell of it at all.

Breakfast was just juice, tea/coffee and 2 slices of toast. For a supplement of (I think £4.50) you could have a full english.
