Money Exchange Budapest/Prague

Do the ATMs in Budapest and Prague exchange in both HUF and/or Euros; CZK and/or Euros?

Thanks.

ATMs in each country allow you to withdraw cash from your checking account in only one currency - that of the country you are in.

They don't "exchange" anything - just let you withdraw - it's you bank that later does the exchange - that's why they charge the 1 or 2% fee.

Thanks, nytraveler.

I know how the system works and realize that this is a withdrawal (fee included).

My question was if the ATMs in both Budapest and Prague gave the option of HUF or Euro in Budapest, CZK or Euro in Prague.

I do not recall ever having an option for anything out of an ATM but the currency of the country.

Thanks so much, Michael. I suspected this to be the case, as this has been so in other countries we've visited. However, I wanted to be certain.

I appreciate your response.

I don't recall ever seeing an ATM in Prague give anything but CZK as that is the currency of the country. I've been there three times, most recently 2006, I guess. Why would you want euros anyway, you can't use them there.

Thanks, Christina,

We are taking a river cruise along the Danube. Several of the ports use Euro as their currency. Sorry I didn't clarify that in my initial post.
