Mid-trip SOS!!
It has been a great vacation so far!! 3 great nights in Prague, 2 fantastic nights in Vienna (with tremendous dinners at Palchutta and Restaurant Kuchl Masterei (Niky's)), drive through Wachau Valley with stop in Durnstein, Melk (thanks to this forum for those two!!) 2 very special nights in Hallstatt (with outdoor major league party complete with band on Tuesday nights only). Now we are in Berchtesgaden.
Here is my dilemma. I don't have a plan for the next 5 nights!
I have flights from either Munich or Zurich on Sept. 10th.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Weekend weather not the greatest here in Berch.
We leave here on Saturday to where is to be determined.
Thought I would turn to the exoerts for some help!
I'm usually pretty good at this, but I'm drawing a blank.
My wife and I have already been to Salzburg and Munich.
We did the Wefern Ice Cave today which was awesome!!!
Thanks in advance for your help!!

Do you have a car? Have you done the villages along the Romantic Road in Germany? There are many places you could see in a week and still not be too far from Munich if that is where you will catch your flight home. Lots of places in Switzerland as well for a flight home from Zurich. It's hard to recommend until we know where you've been or haven't been.
I personally would go to Fussen, see Neuschwanstein, on to Rothenburg seeing some villages along the way, then to Wurzburg. You could also go Bamberg before returning to Munich for your flight.
Good luck deciding. Have fun!

Consider flying from Munich. You could visit/stay in Bamberg, [2 nights]. Then stay in Regensburg [2 nights]. On the was to Regensburg visit Amberg. Then Landshut [1 night]. You would then be very close to the Munich airport. Use www.booking.com to see what is available. Bamberg would be the your longest drive and then you would be heading back to the airport. All have very nice old towns. Bamberg and Regenburg, not much damage in WW2. Just a thought. Dick

I was hoping bobthenavigator wasn't going to respond!! haha
bob..I'm getting tired of the mountains and schwein.
I eventually fly back home from London.
I just figured out I could fly to Dublin and back to London rather inexpensively.
Like I said, the planned part of this trip has been wonderful. Now I'm lost.
I do have a car.
I'll figure it out.

Munich to Lucerne, Switzerland (4 hours). 2 nights
Lucerne to Grindelwald (1 1/2 hour drive and only 50 minutes drive to Zurich) for hiking and fondue in that spectacular area (3 nights)
Hey, I didn't steer you wrong on the Dark Urquell draft, did I?

I can't relate--tired of the Alps after just 3 nights? Our trips to Germany, Switzerland, or Austria have only included 2-3 days in the mountains and I have always hated to leave. So I guess you don't want to go to the Berner Oberland area and Zurich.

Fly from Zuerich.
Munich - Fuessen - Lindau (Lake Constance) via Reutte, Weissbach, Nesselwaengele and B-308 (Deutsche Alpenstrasse), spend a couple of nights in Lindau there. Half day R/T boat to Bregenz and cable car to top of Pfaender - Friedrichshafen (visit Zeppelin Museum) - Meeersburg - Ferry to Konstanz - Insel Mainau (flower island) and autobahn to Winterthur, from there to Zuerich airport (Kloten).
