Meurice or Pavillon de la Reine in Paris

I have narrowed my choice down to these two hotels for our 4 day visit in March. Taking into consideration, location, rooms, service etc. which would you choose?
Thanks for your opinion.

I can only comment on the PdlR having stayed there several times. It is pricey (certainly not as expensive as some other places) by many people's standards but I've always had excellent service from the very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms nicely appointed with marble baths if that's a big issue for you. Location is within walking distance of the Bastille Metro stop (read that review on Tripadvisor from the person who was pissed because they were "forced to use the Metro" when they stayed there) and if you enjoy staying in the Marais this is, IMO, as good as any. The hotel is actually incorporated into the Place des Vosges buildings. Breakfast is big Continental..frankly it is no bargain.

Are the prices worth it? I cannot possibly answer that for you...they are to me and not so for others.

Thank you for your opinion.
We would have a "run of the house rate", and they indicated it would probably be a "standard" room. I thought from their website that a standard is for one person. Do you know how small a standard room is? If we opt for a "superior" room, it is over our budget.
Thanks

Standard rooms have a double bed, armoire, and not much more, as I remember it. The room did have a nicely appointed bathroom, and faced the street. As you probably know, most hotel rooms in Paris are not all that spacious.

Good luck!

A double bed? As in full size, not queen? We have not slept in a double bed since we first got married 37 years ago! Don't think we can do that now!!

We have stayed at both hotels several times. The Pavillon would be our choice only if we had a special reason to stay in that area. The rooms at Meurice have been recently remodeled and are much more posh; plus it is more convenient to metros etc. JP

Another vote for the Meurice. It once was a palace on the Rue de Rivoli (1815), and it has an excellent location: Faces the Tuileries Gardens, near the Rue de la Paix and the Place Vendome. All the rooms are individually decorated, and are very elegant. To view them, see: http://www.parisby.com/meurice/pages/gallery.htm

And one more thing...the Meurice is located next to Angelina Tea Salon, which has IMHO the best hot chocolate on the planet...Chocolat l'africain.

I just looked at the pics of the Meurice rooms..much more elegant than at the PdlR I would say..of course, you'll pay a couple hundred Euros more per night, too, but if you can afford it I would say go for it.
