All are comparably priced( actually majestic is a little cheaper with their summer special). Locaiton, overall amenities and service, which is my best bet?

We are staying at the Majestic this summer. Everything that I read said that it was a great place to stay in a wonderful location.

Each has it's own style, so it would come down to what you what. The Majestic is a more traditional and classic 5-star deluxe, while the 5-star Claris GL is a bit more modern and upscale. Both of these hotels have swimming pools. The 1898 is one I'm not familiar with at the moment, but it looks interesting.

My first choice would be between the Majestic if I was in the mood for something a little more sophisticated.

I know both the Claris and the Majestic. The Claris more of a "hip" designer style, the Majestic more classic. The Majestic has an absolutely wonderful location right on the Passeig de Gracia. It would be my choice.
