luzern hotels

I will be in Luzern for 2 nights when they have the festival of lights (fireworks over the lake) I had originally booked at the Romantik hotel Wilden Mann but then thought that it might be nicer to have a hotel overlooking the lake so as to see the fireworks better. I also booked the Art Deco Hotel Montana which seems nice but much more expensive. Now I need to finally decide which one. The Wilden Mann is less expensive and we get a junior suite. The Montana has the great view. What do you think?

Hi cparris,

Go to Weggis and stay in a four-star lakeview room for what you would pay for a 3-star in Luzern. www.weggis.ch.

Have fun!

Stayed in the Montana some years ago and it has incredible views over the lake to the mountains - as well as nice large double rooms. I wold classify as pleasnat and pretty - but not truly elegant.

Can't comment on the Wilden Mann - except the restaurant is cute and the food fine - did not see any of the rooms.

How much are the fireworks worth to you?

Have stayed at the Wilden Mann quite a few times in the last 30 years, and have been totally satisified with the entire hotel and etc. However Swandav
did not mention the Hotel in Weggis.,
check into the ALBANA for information
see www.albana-weggis.ch/ Have looked
into this hotel in past years, have not stayed there but impressed with their site. Beleive this is the hotel he has
in mind....The Wilden Mann has both a
restaurant (semi-formal) and an ajoining
stubi for more relaxed dining... Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..

I have heard that the food at the Wilden Mann is quite good. Did you eat at the stubi or the more formal restaurant?
