Looking for a proper atmospheric pub near Heathrow or nearby
My nephew from USA will be visiting UK spending just enough time at LHR (before heading north by car) for dinner. Can anyone recommend a nice authentic pub within, say, 30 minutes drive? There used to be an old pub near the Harmondsworth barn but heard it has been closed down. ..

Just next to the street entrance to the Posthouse hotel at LHR is a great little award winning publ
I learned about it on one of my trips to the UK from an FA. I tend to stay at the hotel just for the pub.
Lots of FAs there every night I was in the pub.

Sorry, if my memory fades, here's a link to local pubs.

I hope you are not saying he is getting off a long haul flight from the US, hiring a car and then immediately driving off to the north. Not recommended at all due to the very real effects of jet-lag. Even worse if he's going to have a few drinks at the pub!

I used to recommend the Ostrich Inn in nearby Colnbrook, it is not far from LHR T5. It is one if the oldest pubs in England. I say 'used to' because last visit I was disappointed with the food, but for the purposes of finding an atmospheric pub close to LHR it should be ok. Also there is a pub near to Jury's Inn across the A30, can't remember what us is called, which also might be ok. Ostrich Inn will be better though.

Odin the ostrich not getting very good reviews on trip advisor though sounds atmpspheric enough for sure but since we're going for a meal we may go with yourrecommendation of the green man - some great reviews for them. Thanks again.
