recommend b &b nr. Heathrow

Stayed last month at lovely b & b in Maidenhead, just west of Heathrow.
Highly recommend!
Nice people, nice house with character, good
breakfast.

I know this is old, but the Beehive was sold a few months back (for just under £1 million) and the local gossip is that it's no longer a B&B or won't stay one. Too bad, it is a good neighborhood, with a few little pubs and a shop nearby and some excellent parks and paths for walking.

I have emailed The Beehive as I am looking for a really nice B&B or small hotel about 15 -30 minutes from Heathrow.

I don't want a large hotel, something nice in a small village or town.

Any other suggestions?

Will let you know what I find out!

Well the Beehive has not replied so it looks as if they are probably out of business.

At the moment I am looking at Sunny Cottage in Maidenhead, any Fodorites stayed there?

Where in Maidenhead is it? Some parts of MH are pleasant and quiet, others have ongoing problems with vandalism and other crimes, some disturbingly violent.

If you'd be willing to go just a *bit* farther, there are lots of nice B & Bs in Marlow, which is a very attractive small town with some interesting historic sites and several excellent restaurants, cafes, and pubs. Do a search here for "marlow".
The Chequers Pub and Inn looks nice; I've walked past it many times and have stopped in at the pub, friendly professional staff and I don't think it would be too noisy (Marlow's not a rowdy town): http://www.infotel.co.uk/12664#photo

IMO, Marlow is much prettier and more pleasant than Maidenhead (which is more of a commuter town than a place with a strong appeal of its own) and also within a pretty easy drive from Heathrow. I think it would be a very congenial place to stay before a flight.
