London Marriott Hotel Choice and Neighborhood
I currently have a 7 night stay certificate at a Category 6 Marriot in London. I have a choice of the following hotels:
London Marriott Hotel Kensington (Gloucester Rd. tube stop)
London Marriott Hotel Regents Park (Swiss Cottage tube stop)
London Marriott Hotel Maida Vale (Kilburn tube stop)
London Marriott Hotel West India Quay (in business district)
I am a first timer to London and am interested in the usual tourist things and wonder which of the above properties would be closest to the city center with most convenient access. Would also like to know about the areas in which they are located. After reading trip advisor reports they seem to all have the same good and bad reviews so this wasnt much help. Anyone have any experience with these hotels or the neighborhoods in which they are located? I would appreciate any insight. Thanks.

I didn't stay at the Regents Park property, but I did stop by there once just to check it out to see if I wanted to use my points there in the future. I thought the neighborhood looked fine and it's right by a tube stop. My favorite for Marriott points is the Renaissance, but they have moved that property up to a category 7. I guess it was just too popular.

I don't know the Marriott, but I just returned from staying across the street from the Gloucester Road tube station and liked it very much. A nice mixed residential/small retail neighborhood with plenty of pubs and restaurants (variety of cuisines) and shops (internet spot, Boots, Tesco, Waitrose for necesities).
With both Picadilly and Circle lines on the tube at Glouster Rd, we never had to change trains to get to anywhere in central London.

Oops, posted too soon. Gloucester Rd is also great for transport to and from Heathrow on the tube, about a 30-40 minute ride on the Piccadilly Line, as long as you can schlep your bags for several flights of stairs.
