Lodging for solo traveler

Does anyone know of a budget lodging for one person in Amsterdam? I would like to stay some place other than a hostel, but am running into places where you have to book for 2 people, even if you are solo. Thanks.

Hi jlr - I can't help with Amsterdam, but you might get a good response if you also post your question on the "solo traveler" forum. Good luck!

I stayed in a single room at Hotel Kap.

The toilet was shared with a sink and shower in the room, narrow bed, window, dresser. A very nice breakfast was included. I thought it was a good deal for the price (I paid 57 euro but this was several years ago).

Almost all hotels have single rooms and/or double rooms at reduced price for one person.

What is your budget point? Have you looked at the various web sites - venere.com, tripadvisor etc.
