Italy lodging

Please forgive me for my ignorance, but can someone explain the difference between a single room versus a double room? For my husband and I would, we need the single or double room? I'm a little confused because I wasn't sure if a single room meant a twin bed. Please advise.

A single room sleeps one person. A double room sleeps 2 people. For one big bed, ask for a matrimonial bed. It will likely be the US-equivalent of a full to queen size bed

A single room is meant for occupation by a single person and a double room by 2 people. A single room may have a twin or larger bed, but regardless, only one person will be allowed to stay in it.

Hi JennyP,

I will add that when I have searched through many, many hotels of recent days, many do post their rates as "Double room for single use"
and as the above posts have stated, it is for only one person.

Not applicable for you and your husband of course, but kind of nice that it is less $ for that single traveler.

Happy travels, T.

And a double room does not guarantee one big bed--it might be two twins pushed together.
