I took a boat there long ago to visit a garden center that had antique statues and such things. Nothing I could afford nor have the place for them BUT I love looking at them. It was called Clifton Little. Don't know if it still is there. I bought one small terra cotta pot, andstill have the large beautiful brochure. The boat ride there reminded me of Joyce Cary's "The Horses Mouth"when we passed those house boats.

We took a boat from there to Camden Locks which was nice. But another time in London we walked the same route and found it nicer.

Beautiful Nash-designed houses, and a lovely spot for a stroll. Also nice to take the boat to or from Camden lock - you get a really nice view of the nice properties and a different view of Regents' Park.
Avoid the public toilets in the little park by the boat docks - they were nasty!!

I did this many years ago and enjoyed it. One suggestion -- take the boat one way -- it really is enough.

If you look in Time Out magazine you ill gfind good places there for music and theatre, and strolling there you can pick a place for lunch or dinner. Although residents are rich the theatre, music and meals are cheaper than those in most of the West End.

We went there a couple of summers ago. Took the tube there, spent a few hours walking around and took the tube back. I think we did it on a Saturday late morning after we had been to Portobello Road and it was a nice change. There were several boats that you could go on for a drink or lunch. It's good for a couple of hours stroll.

Thank you for the info on Little Venice. After many years going London I never had heard of it. Coincidently, in the Bergen Record Sunday newspaper of Jan 23, there was a feature article on....yep, Little Venice in London. Looking forward to a visit.

Original London Walks (www.walks.com) has a Sunday afternoon walk thru Little Venice. We planned on taking it last summer but it was a dismal, rainy day so we made other plans. Plan on taking it on next trip.

Rchard Branson used to live on one of those little boats in Little Venice. I did a boat trip and really enjoyed it.

Rent the 1958 film that stars Alec Guiness as the painter Gulley Jimson, music by Prokofiev, and London lovely.

The garden center is called Clifton Gardens and is quite nice. It's off of Clifton Villas a block in from the canal. A walk along the canals around Bloomfield Road would be a nice change of pace. A great place to eat wold be Raoul's on Clifton Road near Maida Vale Ave/ Edgeware Road. There's a caf on one side and a take away/deli on the other. There are buses on Edgeware that can take you back down towards Knightsbridge as well.
