London Canal Trip anyone?

I am interested in taking a Canal Trip Mar. 7 or 8 to Camden Lock (get off there and check out the food stalls at Camden)and then return trip. Anyone have opinion? I've been to London only once before and have never seen a blog about this activity.

We did it and really enjoyed it. We got on the boat in Little Italy, got off at Camden, explored a bit and took the subway back. It isn't a very long trip. It is beautiful and shady on a summer day. There are different boats. You can have lunch or get sandwiches on some, but we didn't. There are walking paths along the canal. At one point, a person riding a bike fell off. The bike fell into the canal. Our boat stopped and people on our boat fished the bike out of the canal and got it back up onto the path for the person. The whole thing was a nice break from the hustle and bustle of London and I would definitely do it again.

We boarded at Little Venice and rode to Camden Lock one quiet Sunday morning last July. It was a great peaceful ride--and then the Camden area was jam packed and hopping! You might only want to ride one way and do something different to get back to your "home." We explored the Camden Lock area and then walked to Primrose Hill for a view of the city. (That wouldn't be recommended on a day that was very cold, wet, or windy.) We also walked through Regents Park that day. Anyway, one way on the canal might be enough if you could travel "home" via other means and see something else. But the canal ride was great. Not sure if all the canal boat operators are open all year (I think one, Jason's, doesn't open til April), so you'd want to check to make sure.

I did this one way on a Jason's boat. Highly recommended - interesting scenery, and a peaceful trip.

Yes, Weekender, I did mean Little Venice. Sorry about that and thanks for the correction. Didn't mean to give OP wrong info.

Thanks everyone! London Waterbus Co. does have canal trips in March (hope the weather permits). I think I'll take texasbookworm's (Funny, I'm from TX too - and a bookworm!) advice and just travel one-way.

It's nice to boat one way and walk back the other. I've done it in spring and also winter... one of my favourite activities in London. It's amazing how quiet it can be - you forget for a time that you are in such a large, busy city!
