Hi again O'REILLY,

"Let me know if you would like to meet up for a glass of wine." Would love to!Anyone else going to London around this time?

I will be staying 10 nights at the Strand Palace - June 16-26, but I can meet you anywhere. I'm getting around pretty well on the Tube these days. One place that I would love to explore is the GEORGE INN near Borrough Market I believe.

Hi JANISJ,

Yes, Sandralist's comments were not flattering. Basically she said that you knew what you were getting yourself into, these folks were not relatives (how would she know?), maybe co-workers? It sorta went down hill from there. She wasn't very flattering to your readers either.

Then I recalled her unpleasant remarks in O'REILLY'S recent Florence trip report regarding the latter's comments about Italian gals wearing "puffer coats" in April - all said in good jest. "How dare she judge?" and so on. Those comments have since been scrubbed also. Wow, this person is vituperative.

In any case, please continue writing your trip report. I just love to read about what others do in London and surrounds...

please let us know what you think about Boris, lateday. He's not to my political taste but he is certainly erudite and entertaining and there's little of that in modern-day politics.

funny that we should be discussing Z's remarks when she's been deleted and can't come back and read them. That'll learn her! [or not].

Hi ANNHIG,

I just get a kick out of this guy. Indeed, he is "erudite." Last year I read his book his book, JOHNSON'S LIFE OF LONDON: The People Who Made the City That Made the World - what a vocabulary, had to keep looking words up. I am sure that he is controversial, but one thing is for sure - he LOVES London!

I am also looking forward to seeing the new modern city hall, described by one wit as a "glass testicle."

Anyone can read this forum. I did for a long time before registering to ask a question.

Three of us had booked flights, rooms, tours etc and one had a heart attack three days before so had open heart surgery. We ate the cost. I worked like crazy to get her a refund on her ticket and got that back. I only got the tax portion back on the Dublin to Edinburgh flight. We booked an apartment for three and we ended up splitting it two ways. We felt so bad for her that we just said forget it and knew she would have done the same for us. Now I had to cut a trip short due to a death last year and lost out on many pre-paid things. I was splitting a room with another girl in two places and left funds to cover it with another girl as I knew my roommate would not accept. I had paid for the apartment and lost that. It is life and things happen. But, these were friends and we travel a lot together and are very supportive. We know each others quirks and laugh a lot about it. My one friend gets a ten min limit in tee shirt/souvenir shops. She can't ever make up her mind ordering food so I order for both of us and we share. BUT, this lady was not sick, just backed out at the last second without telling you so would not have a lot of mercy for her.
